PURPOSE:To compress the time base of pulses which are broad in width and are weak in signals by irraditing two rows of transparent media of which phase gratings are formed of ultrasonic waves by monochromatic light and measuring the intensity of the interference light thereof. CONSTITUTION:The pulselike electric signal V which is laterally symmetrical with respect to one point of time base is applied to the terminals 9a, 9b of ultrasonic oscillators 5a, 5b. Corse and dense waves 13a, 13b are generated in the two ultrasonic wave propagating media in such a way as to advance from opposite directions. If monochromatic light is irradiated thereto and is absorbed with a lens 10, the fringes wherein the wavrs diffracted by two rows of phase gratings interfere with each other are generated on a filter 11. When the intensity thereof is detected with a sensor 12, the signal thereof expresses the self-correlation function of the original pulse waves. Thus the original pulse waves are time compressed and are detected as strong signals. |
