NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [X is H, halogen, 1-5C alkyl or 1-5C alkoxy; a is an integer 1-3; R<1> and R<2> are H, 1-5C alkyl or formula II (Y is X; b is an integer 1-3; m is an integer 1-5) or together with N form formula III (A is 2-6C alkylene or -CH2CH2OCH2CH2-); R<3> and R<4> are H or 1-5C alkyl or together may form 3-5C alkylene; n is an integer 1-5] or an acid addition salt thereof. EXAMPLE:2-(2-Chlorobenzyl)-5,6-dimethyl-3-(2-pyrrolidinethyl)thi-eno[2 ,3-d]pyrim idin-4-(3H)-one. USE:Useful as a medicine for cardiac and circulatory systems having calcium antagonistic action, vasodilator action and antihypertensive action. PREPARATION:For example, a 2-(phenylacetylamino)-3-thiophenecarboxylic acid ester derivative expressed by formula IV (R<5> is 1- 5C alkyul) is cyclocondensed with a diamine expressed by formula V, preferably at 100-200 deg.C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
