PURPOSE:To easily designate a classification item by making it easily understand as a visual sense, by storing the information of a structure related to a classification by decomposing it to parts of a classification axis, a classification diagram, a classification item, and a transition table. CONSTITUTION:A system for expressing a structure based on a classification is provided with an input means 1 for designating a classification item, a means 2 for storing in advance plural classification axes, a means 3 for storing in advance plural classification diagrams for expressing a partial structure of each classification axis, a means 4 for storing in advance plural items of each classification axis, a means 5 for storing in advance a transition table for prescribing the corresponding classification item information or designating the next classification diagram, in case a specified classification item has been designated by the input means, and a means 6 for controlling the means 1-5. When the specified classification axis is designated by the means 2, the classification diagram of the means 3 is displayed on a display means 7, and by viewing it, an item of the means 4 is designated. When this item is not the classification item of the lowest rank, the next classification diagram is displayed successively on the means 7 by the means 5, and the information concerned is read out of the means 4 and displayed.
