PURPOSE:To efficiently supplement an omission word by providing a collating pair retrieving means for retrieving a structure containing an omission and a structure containing an omission word supplementary candidate from an input sentence structure holding device. CONSTITUTION:A collating pair retrieving means 12 receives an event structure containing an omission from a control part 13, and retrieves one piece or plural pieces of structures (omission structures) containing its even structure as a partial structure from an input sentence structure holding device 11. Also, with regard to each omission structure, a supplementary candidate structure is retrieved from the device 11, and a pair of an omission structure and a supplementary candidate structure is sent to the control part 13. On the other hand, a pattern collating device 14 receives the pair of the omission structure and the supplementary candidate structure, and executes a pattern collation of two structures by referring to a structure conversion rule in a structure conversion rule storage part 15. If the collation is successful, the partial structure corresponding to the omission in the supplementary candidate structure and the similarity are returned to the control part 13, and in case of a failure, NIL is returned.
