A cable distribution head utilizes a solderless, non-screwed and non-stripped polytropic air gap termination technique and has a housing containing at least one terminal block having at least one terminal bar with terminals at opposite ends thereof for incoming and outgoing cables and an open-topped chamber adapted to receive an overvoltage arrester magazine, the chamber being disposed between the terminals.
