PURPOSE:To manufacture diamond sintered body having uniform structure and superior wear resistance and toughness, by uniformly dispersing halogenides of Fe, Co, Ni, etc., to substance contg. carbon and reducing them, then sintering under ultra-high pressure and high temp. CONSTITUTION:Mixture composed of 50-99wt% substance contg. carbon and the balance one kind or more halogenide of metal among Fe, Co, Ni is mixed with solvent capable of dissolving the halogenides. The mixture is heated under stirring to vaporize solvent, and the state in which the halogenides are uniformly dispersed to the substrate contg. carbon is obtd. The dispersion body is subjected to heating and reducing treatment in hydrogen current to obtain a material contg. metal reduced from the halogenide. Then, the material is sintered under ultra-high pressure and high temp. in which diamond is thermodynamically stable to obtain the titled body having high hardness and uniform structure. |
