PURPOSE:To produce the titled fiber having specific relative viscosity in sulfuric acid, etc., and high tenacity retension and uniformity, in high efficiency, by carrying out melt-spinning, lubrication, taking off and drawing of a specific polycapramide polymer containing an oxidizing agent such as a copper salt under specific respective conditions. CONSTITUTION:A polycapramide polymer containing >=95mol% epsilon-capramide unit, having high polymerization degree represented by a relative viscosity of >=3.0 in sulfuric acid and containing one or more kinds of copper salts and/or oxidizing agents other than copper salt is spun by melt-spinning and the obtained yarn is passed through a zone positioned >=10cm below a spinneret and heated at a temperature higher than the melting point of the polycapramide by 30 deg.C. The quenched yarn is coated with a non-aqueous lubricant under a condition of formula I (T is spinning tension; (n) is the number of fiber filaments; V is speed of take-up roll and (d) is fineness of single filament), taken off at a speed of >=2,000m/min and subjected to a multi-stage hot-drawing under a condition of formula II (etar1 is relative viscosity of yarn on the take-up roll in sulfuric acid; etar2 is that of the yarn after the final winding). The objective fiber having the characteristics of formula III-VI (Tm is melting point; fc is crystal orientation degree; F is orientation of amorphous region; gammais mixing ratio of gamma-type crystal) can be produced by this process.
