<p>A printer employing a daisy wheel (68) or other print wheel uses a single motor both to translate a carriage (10) along a line of printing and to rotate the daisy wheel (68). The daisy wheel (68) is rotated through one complete character set (84 86 88 90 94) for movement of the carriage (10) along the print line by one character printing space. Type (82) on the fingers (80) of the daisy wheel (68) is progressively displaced relative to a centre line through the ordered set to be printed early on the line of printing by a distance which is a proprtional part of one print line letter space, the displacement being proportional to the position of a character in the set (84 86 88 90 94) between a first character (84) and a last character (94). </p> |
