1,242,965. Liquid damped resilient bushings. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. 30 July, 1969 [26 Aug., 1968], No. 38313/69. Heading F2S. [Also in Division A4] Distortion of a resilient bushing 2 is damped by two or more pockets 10a, 10b filled with a liquid (e.g. polyalkylene glycols, silicon oil, various polymers) and interconnected by a passageway 32, which is tapered (Fig. 6, not shown) or provided with a one-way flapper valve (Fig. 7, not shown). The elastomeric insert is moulded with recesses 30a, 30b which become pockets when the insert is radially compressed (or bonded) between the inner and outer sleeves 4, 6 of the bushing. Then the liquid is inserted using an apparatus depicted in Fig. 8 (not shown). Fig. 5 (not shown) depicts a circumferential passageway (110) connecting pockets (108a, 108b). The bushing (100) has an outer sleeve (106) of elliptical crosssection, with an end flange (112). |
