PURPOSE:To improve the optical coupling degree between an optical fiber assembly and other optical parts by forming a stepped end surface to be abutted on the end surface of a holding member on an assembly holder and welding the holding member with the optical fiber assembly by a laser under the state that the stepped end surface is abutted on the end surface of the holding member. CONSTITUTION:In the fixing method, a collar with a required outer diameter larger than the inner diameter of an axial hole 6A is formed on one end part of the assembly holder 30, and under the state that the stepped end surface 31 of the collar is abutted on the end surface part of the holding member 6, the holding member 6 is welded with the optical fiber assembly by the laser beam. Namely, the stepped end surface 31 of the assembly holder 30 is abutted on the end surface of the holding member 6 by plane contact and the abutted part is fillet-welded by the laser beam, so that both the members can be precisely fixed without shifting the positional relation. Consequently, both the members are not fixed by laser welding under the state that the axis of the axial hole 6A is inclined from the axis of the optical fiber assembly 1 and its optical coupling loss is not increased.
