PURPOSE:To improve voltage withstanding property of metal sheets of foil wound winding of a foil wound transformer between the metal sheets by composing the metal sheets of a wide central sheet and striplike sheets of both ends in narrow width to strengthen to insulate the ends of the striplike sheets. CONSTITUTION:Metal sheets 71, 72 which constitute turned windings are wound by interposing an insulating sheet 8 made of aluminum and wider than the sheets 71, 72. The sheets 71, 82 are composed of a central wide sheet 71, and narrow striplike sheets 72 disposed at both ends of the sheet 71 in contact at their ends with the sheet 71. The end striplike sheets 72 disposed in contact with the central sheet 71 are formed with alumite layers 9 except the surfaces contacted with the central sheets 72. A current flows in the same manner as the case that a winding is wound of one sheet having a width of the total of the sheet 71 and the sheets 72 of both ends, an electric field concentrating portion of the end of a conductor is covered with the layer 9 having high insulating strength to suppress a partial discharge.
