PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in brightness retentivity, water repellency, etc., during outdoor exposure by coating a clear paint curable by active energy rays on the surface of a finish coated film. CONSTITUTION:The clear paint curable by active energy rays consisting of a radical polymerizable unsatd. compd. such as resin introduced with a polymerizable unsatd. group which can be crosslinked and polymerized by the irradiation of active energy rays and crosslinkable unsatd. oligomer as the essential binder component is coated into a thin layer on the surface of the coated film in a method for forming the protective layer for the coated film of vehicles, electrical household products, etc. The coating is then cured by UV rays, etc. Then the brightness retentivity, water repellency, etc., are maintained as the protective film for at least a half year or longer and at the same time, the chalking, staining, etc., during outdoor exposure are prevented.
