The firing target comprises a moving target disc (3) whose framework (4) is a target carriage which rolls on a supporting cable (5) of a cable track arrangement and on which a traction cable (6) engages which runs around backwards and forwards. This traction cable (6) is passed over guide rollers (8) at the ends of the track, which guide rollers (8) are supported together with the supporting cable (5), at a given distance above the ground, by end supports (1 and 2) of the cable track arrangement. In this case, a variable rotation direction motor drive (7, 9, 10) engages on one of the guide rollers (8). Such a firing target allows the target disc (8) to move without vibration and without being deflected at a speed of up to 8 m/s when the cable track arrangement has a span width of, for example 120 metres, which arrangement can overcome even terrain formations which are otherwise irregular. In addition, the firing target has good mobility as a result of simple erection and dismantling. <IMAGE>
