PURPOSE:To protect a seal member by pressing a sliding roof somewhat forward when the rear edge of the sliding roof is rotated upward and restoratively rotated in the said device for car or the like. CONSTITUTION:Under the closed condition of a sliding roof 3, a seal member 17 is in close contact with the inner face of the drooped wall 1a of a roof 1, and a sliding piece 15 is hooked with a guide rail 5 by the coupling between the lower lug 32 of a latch 31 and a coupling hole 35. When the sliding roof 3 is to be opened, a motor 11 is positively rotated, and a piece 19 is retreated along a long hole 15f. Then, a link 21 rotates the front end of a link 23 upward, pushes up a shaft 22 clockwise, and pushes up the rear drooped piece 16b of a bracket 16 likewise. Thereby, a front drooped piece 16a is shifted somewhat forward by the hollow portion of a bush 18a then is shifted backward. Accordingly, the seal member 17 can be protected.
