PURPOSE:To enable the decision of higher frequency between two frequencies by resetting a pulse generator by measuring pulse train signals every pulse thereof and comparing the frequency of set pulse train signals after a resetting and the frequency of the measuring pulse train signals. CONSTITUTION:First, a pulse generator to which a desired frequency can be set is prepared. Then, measuring pulse train signals are passed through a differentiating circuit and a clipping circuit to produce differential wave pulses which are inputted to the resetting circuit in the pulse generator and reset the pulse generator by the pulses of the resetting circuit. The output pulse train signals of the pulse generator and the measuring pulse train signals are inputted to a frequency comparing circuit both in the form of differential wave pulses. Since the pulse generator is already reset by the measuring pulse train signals, the output pulse train signals themselves involve the comparison information of a measuring frequency and a set frequency. Utilizing also the comparison information, the frequency comparing circuit compares and decides the measuring frequency and the set frequency and outputs measured values in the form of ON and OFF.
