PURPOSE:To enable a considerably low noise level to be maintained without reduction in printing performance by constituting the titled roll with a rubber- like elastic substance having a specific physical coefficient. CONSTITUTION:This invention is a platen roll which is used for an impact-type printer and this roll has a shaft or a plastic-coated shaft as a core, around which a rubber-like elastic substance is adhered concentrically. In addition, the modulus of tensile elasticity at 5% elongation of the rubber-like elasttic substance is 250kg/cm<2> or more. Further, the ratio of a modulus of action storage elasticity at 100Hz, 0.3% distortion to a modulus of tensile elasticity at 5% elongation, i.e. dynamic magnifying rate is 4 or less. A loss coefficient at 100Hz, 0.3% distortion is 0.3 or less. If a urethane or olefin thermoplastic elastomer is used as a rubber-like elastic substance, the loss coefficient becomes low and consequently the titled roll which satisfies physical properties can be obtained with its generated noise reduced to a low level. |
