PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material having sufficient color developing density and color forming sensitivity and excellent stability with time, by using an electron-donating colorless dye, an electron-accepting compound and a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:An electron-donating colorless dye, an electron-accepting compound and a compound of general formula: Ar1S-R-SAr2, wherein each of Ar1 and Ar2 is an aromatic ring, and R is a 1-10C bivalent group, are used. The compound of the general formula is 1,2-bis(phenylthio)ethane, 1,2-bis(4- methoxypehnylthio)ethane or the like. The electron-donating colorless dye is a triarylmethane compound, a diphenylmethane compound or the like. The electron-accepting compound is a phenol compound, an inorganic acid or the like. The colorless dye and the electron-accepting compound are used in the state of being dispersed and ground to a particle diameter of not more than 3mum, preferably, not more than 2mum in a dispersant. The compound of the general formula is preferably added in an amount of 20-300wt% based on the amount of the electron-accepting compound. |
