Novel perfluoro-tertiary-alkanols of the formula (CF 3 ) 2 CF-CR f <SP>1</SP>R<SP>@2</SP>OH, wherein each of R#<SP>1</SP> and R#<SP>2</SP> is a C 1-3 perfluoroalkyl group, are made by reacting perfluoroketones with fluorides of potassium, rubidium or caesium in inert polar solvents, adding hexafluoropropylene to the reaction mixture and hydrolysing the compounds so obtained. |
