PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording material having a high solubility in organic solvents, a high reflectance and excellent light resistance and resistance to reproducing light, by incorporating a naphtholactam compound of a specified formula as a light-absorbing coloring matter. CONSTITUTION:A naphtholactam compound of formula I or II is incorporated as a light-absorbing coloring matter, in producing a recording material. In formula I, K is a substd. or unsubstd. aromatic amine residue, R is a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or allyl, Z<-> is an anion, and ring A is a naphthalene ring which may be substd. In formula II, each of X and Y is hydro gen, an alkyl, acylamino, alkoxyl or halogen, R<1> is a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or allyl, each of R<2> and R<3> is hydrogen or a 1-20C substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, aryl, allyl or cycloalkyl, each of R<4> and R<5> is hydrogen, a halogen, 1-10C alkyl, 1-10C alkoxyl, alkylamino, acylamino, amino or hy droxyl, and Z<-> is an anion. |
