PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ISOINDOLE DERIVATIVES

Isoindole derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are prepd. by the reduction of II or III in the presence of Zn and CH3COOH at 60-150≦̸C. In the formula, X is halogen or trifluoromethyl; R1 is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkenyloxy, trifluoromethyl or nitro; R2 is H or halogen; Y is C1-4 alkylene. (I) and (III) have antihypertensive and/or diuretic activity.
