PURPOSE:To keep an alkaline atmosphere from adversely affecting other component parts in manufacturing a photoelectric screen, by making a cover or a cover moving means of a prescribed form-memorizing alloy, closing the cover at the time of manufacturing of a photoelectric cathode, and opening the cover at the time of operation. CONSTITUTION:A partition wall 30 having an opening 13 containing the axis of an image tube is provided near behind a photoelectron crossover point 11 between a photoelectric cathode 4 and a fluorescent screen 9. A cover 14 or a cover moving means is made of a form-memorizing alloy 62 whose Ms transformation temperature is set lower than an ordinary operation temperature and whose As transformation temperature is set higher than the ordinary operation temperature. The cover 14 is closed at the time of manufacturing of the photoelectric cathode 4 and opened at the time of operation. Other component parts are insulated from an alkaline atmosphere at the time of manufacturing of a photoelectric screen so that the other component parts are prevented from being adversely affected by the alkaline atmosphere.
