PURPOSE:To obtain an antifouling paint which is non-toxic and has excellent long-term antifouling properties, by using a specified phosphorus nitride compd. and a paint resin as main components. CONSTITUTION:An antifouling paint compsn. contains a phosphorus nitride compd. of formula I and a paint resin as main components. In the formula I, R1, R2 are each -OR3, a group of formula II or III; R3 is a group of formula IV, an arom. group; n1>=3; n2 is 1-5; m is 1-20. Said phosphorus nitride compd. can prevent aquatic organisms from being deposited by the hydrolysis thereof. In the formula I, the cases where R1, R2 are each -OR3 or a group of formula II, m in R3 is 1-10, and n1 is 3-1,000 are preferred. As the paint resin, a resin capable of forming a coating film having excellent water resistance is used. When a water-soluble resin is used, the amount of the resin to be blended is 5-300wt%, while when the resin is water-insoluble, the amount is 10-300pts.wt.
