PURPOSE:To reduce a cross talk and heighten the luminance of light emission even for a large surface area, by placing an electrode on the side of a base plate whose other side is in contact with a dielectric layer to lower the electrostatic capacity between the upper and lower electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A base plate 2 has a large number of holes 5 in positions corresponding to those of electrodes 11. The inside surfaces of the holes 5 are coated with side conductors 6. An electrode 12 is electrically coupled to the side conductor 6 for the hole 5 and disposed on the side of the base plate 2 whose other side is in contact with a dielectric layer so that the electrode 12 extends nearly perpendicularly to the electrodes 11. As a result, a needless electrical current caused by electrostatic capacity is much decreased. Since discharge is independently caused in each hole 5, a cross talk is prevented. Since a large surface area of enough light emission can be provided, a high luminance of light emission can be attained even for a large surface area.
