PURPOSE:To easily confirm an original surface by providing a window part arranged close to a reference position of a platen, a mirror for leading an original image formed close to the reference position to the window part and a shutter for preventing original irradiating light from leakage from the window part to the external. CONSTITUTION:The window part 5 is provided on the left part of a reference position guide 3 and the original checking mirror 4 is arranged on the lower part of the window part 5 under the status inclined at a fixed angle. The original surface near the reference position 3a of the guide 3 which is reflected on the mirror 4 can be observed from the window part 5. Copying operation is started by depressing a copy button, and at that time, a solenoid 8 sucks a lever 9, the lever 9 extrudes a shutter to the right direction around the rotary shaft 9a of the lever 9, so that the shutter 7 is closed and irradiation light from an original illuminating light source 11 and its reflected light are not leaked from the window part 5 to the outside. On the other hand, incidence of unnecessary light from the outside into the body can be also prevented.
