PURPOSE:To facilitate the control of molding action and consequently enhance the molding efficiency of a tire by a method wherein the same cylindrical body is used in both the turning-up operation and the carrying-out operation. CONSTITUTION:Each cylindrical body 49 consists of a plurality of slides 46, holders 47 and segment plates 48. Guide bars 51 slidably fit to guide blocks 50 so as to respectively hold stands 18 and 19 shiftably in the radius direction. In addition, when each rotary plate 35 rotates relative to a ring part 31, the cylindrical body 49 expands or contracts itself under the state that its cylindrical shape is kept unchanged. Elongated holes 33 and 36, a shaft 34, the rotary plate 35 and a cylinder 40 constitute an expanding and contracting means 52 to expand and contract the cylindrical body 49 as a whole. Further, a screw shaft 20, screw blocks 21 and a motor constitute an approaching and separating means 53 to draw near and set apart both the cylindrical bodies 49 each other as a whole. Furthermore, a lower rack 7, an upper rack 9 and a cylinder with a piston rod 12 constitute a shifting means 54 to integrally shift both the cylindrical bodies 49 as a whole in the axial direction of a tire molding drum 1.
