CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD BY ELECTRON BEAM MELTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To improve cooling efficiency and productivity by disposing solid members for cooling an ingot in an ingot making chamber existing below a water-cooled cating mold and bringing the members into force contact with the solidified ingot thereby cooling the ingot. CONSTITUTION:A pair of the cooling members 8 are disposed to the boundary part wall 7a between the electron beam melting chamber 1 and the ingot making chamber 7. The members 8 are piston-like members of which the top end faces are formed of copper plates. The rod parts 8a thereof are freely slidably supported by the wall 7a. Vacuum seals are provided to the sliding parts. The members 8 are internally constructed to allow circulation of cooling water. The cooling water is connected through the inside of the rod part 8 to an outside supply source. The cooling power is thus increased without hindering the continuous casting by electron beam melting, by which the melting speed is increased.
