COOLING METHOD FOR METALLIC MOLD

PURPOSE:To cool a metallic mold to a stable temp. without overcooling and to form a product having excellent quality by ejecting water drops or mists to the rear of the metallic mold which is heated to a high temp. by the input heat from a molding material. CONSTITUTION:The rear surface side 1 of the metallic mold A is gouged toward the part near the rear of the front surface 2a of a cavity 2 to form a recessed part 3 and the base of the part 3 is made the rear surface 4 of the mold A. A suitable number of spray nozzles are disposed to the rear surface side of the mold A and the water drops or mists (a) are injected toward the rear surface 4. Since the mold.A is heated to the high temp. by the input heat from the molding material packed in the cavity 2, the greater part of the water drops or mists evaporate. The mold A is cooled by the evaporation heat and the temp. elevation of the water drops or mists (a). The overcooling of the metallic mold by overflowing of the cooling water is thus obviated and the mold temp. is stabilized.
