PURPOSE:To reduce the effects of vibrations between adjacent piezoelectric elements and achieve a higher printing quality and a smaller device size, by setting the chamber width of a part of a pressure chamber formed in a rectangular shape to be smaller than the width of a piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a pressure chamber 3 a part of which has a chamber width W1 smaller than the width W2 of a piezoelectric element 2, the strain DELTA of a vibrating plate 4 when the element 2 is driven is smaller at the part of the small chamber width W1 than at a part of a larger chamber width W3 (namely, DELTA1<DELTA2). Therefore, when adjacent piezoelectric elements 2 are simultaneously driven, the effect of the vibration is less than that in a conventional ink jet head. Since the effect of the simultaneous driving of the adjacent piezoelectric elements can be restricted even when the pitch of the pressure chambers is set to be small, a small-type ink jet head capable of printing with high quality and with less errors in dot positions on a recording paper can be obtained. |
