Process for the deodorisation and purification of gas containing biodegradable contaminants by passing this gas through a support appropriate to the gas stream to be treated (peat or similar material, carbonate, phosphate) in which microorganisms develop and are maintained, the support receiving an appropriate nutrient solution. The invention relates to a plant for implementing the abovementioned process, comprising a tank 1 containing the seeded support 14 which rests on a grid 7 forming a space 8 with the bottom 4 of the tank, gas distribution channels 12 connected to a delivery pipe 10 for the gas to be purified being arranged in this space 8, while perforated distribution pipes 16 for nutrient solution are arranged above the tank. <IMAGE>
