The present invention relates to a method for taking an impression of the lines of the hand, characterised by the use of a coloured powder applied by friction onto the whole of the flat part of the hand and on which a sheet of adhesive plastic is stuck. After light surface massage, this adhesive sheet is detached, which sheet entrains the thin layer of coloured powder marked with the impression of the lines of the hand, this powder may consist of magnetisable particles, for example ferric oxide, and an impression which is itself magnetisable is obtained.
