PURPOSE:To accurately and uniformly set an inter-substrate space and to improve the display quality of a liquid crystal cell by adhering both substrates which are subjected to an orientation treatment by using a sealing material incorporated therein with inorg. material spacers and spherical spacers consisting of an org. material. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal cell permits the exact control of the space to be provided to seal a liquid crystal between the electrode substrates 11 and 13 subjected to the orientation treatment. The two electrode substrates 11, 13 are stuck in the prescribed region by the sealing material 15 consisting of, for example, a UV-curing adhesive agent. Since the spacers 17 consisting of the inorg. material are incorporated into the material 15, the prescribed space can be provided between the two substrates 11 and 13 in the stage of sticking the substrates. The spherical spacers 19 consisting of the org. material which is chemically stable to the liquid crystal are provided between the two substrates except the sealed part, by which the space between the substrates 11 and 13 is uniformly set at each part of the substrates.
