The subject of the invention is an automatic washing and spinning machine, with a tilting tub, for heavy loads of washing. The frontal access opening to the drum of the machine being held, free to rotate, in the corresponding opening of the front cheek of this tub 2, by the interposition of a large-diameter ball bearing fitted around the said front access opening of the drum, and the centre of gravity of the drum-tub assembly thus being brought substantially to the geometric centre of the tub 2, the latter is tilted about a shaft 11 passing through this centre of gravity, by the action of a pair of jacks 15 into three successive positions: one for loading the washing, the next for washing and spinning, keeping the axis of rotation of the drum horizontal, the last, for unloading the washing by gravity, in the downwards-inclined position of the tub 2. It finds its advantageous use in industrial bleaching. <IMAGE>
