The present invention relates to an apparatus for preparing or performing analyses of the type comprising a box 9 which has an input opening 12 for introducing analysis holders 6 provided with housings 7 for the product samples to be analysed and which contains a working head 35, in particular a measurement or filling head, intended to be placed in succession vertically in line with the housings 7 of the analysis holders 6. According to the invention, the box 9 contains a drive mechanism 19 for the analysis holders 6, capable of successively moving the latter with an intermittent forward movement whose step is equal to the interval separating two successive housings 7 of the analysis holders 6 in the direction of progression of the latter, this mechanism being preferably formed by a plurality of rows of push rods 20 guided in translation, which rods are hinged by their lower end to rotary members 22 driven in synchronisation and engaging, by their upper end, in hollows formed in the bottoms of the holders 6.
