PURPOSE:To enable a work of fiber material to be polished with no generation of its break, by contactlessly placing the fiber material in the center of a cylin drical guide to be fixed to a holding tool in the end part and polished allowing polishing fluid to flow in annular space between the both work and guide. CONSTITUTION:In the center of a cylindrical fiber material guide, a fiber mate rial, fixing its end part to a holding tool, is held in a contactless condition with the fiber material guide. The fiber material is polished by allowing polishing fluid to flow in space between the both fiber material and guide. Here a polishing speed may be increased faster as necessary by applying a pressure to the polishing fluid and/or relatively giving a rotary or reciprocating motion to the material and the guide. While a clearance of 10-100mum is prefer able between the material and the guide for the sake of polishing margin of the material and its stable coaxial quality. In this way, a very easily broken bar-shaped material can be stably polished with no generation of its break. |
