PURPOSE:To attain a KANA(Japanese syllabary) - KANJI(Chinese character) conversion in a compound word or a compound clause including a KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) character word afterwards by learning the KATAKANA character word resulted from the conversion when an automatic KATAKANA conversion is applied on a reading corresponding to a KATAKANA character string. CONSTITUTION:The reading string of a Japanese text KANA-inputted from a keyboard 1 is checked with a word registered at a dictionary 32 and a learning table 45 with a word analysis processing routine 31 at a Japanese processing part,and is recognized as the word. And the reading string impossible to be checked, when a long sound character, a character in 'BA' (one of KANAs) line, or a small character in 'A' (one of KANAs) line is detected with a KATAKANA automatic conversion processing routine 33, is decided as the KATAKANA character word, and the automatic KATAKANA conversion is applied on it. Simultaneously, the KATAKANA character word on which the automatic KATAKANA conversion has been applied is registered at the learning table 35 by a learning processing routine 34.
