PURPOSE:To minimize tracing operation by writing a microprogram address, the counted value of a machine cycle, and the overflow state of a counter in a trace memory when the starting address of a machine word instruction is detected or when branch condition is satisfied. CONSTITUTION:Machine cycles are counted by a counter 6, whose overflow state is displayed on a display register 7; and a microprogram is read out of a microprogram memory 1 and set in a microprogram command register 2 and a field on its signal line 102 and plural branch condition decision signals are inputted to a branch condition decision circuit 4. Then when branch condition is satisfied, the branch destination address is written in the trace memory 8 and the value of a register 7 and the value of the counter 6 are written in the memory 8. Consequently, a trace area is expanded.
