PURPOSE:To smoothen the movement of an apex seal and improve the sealability, by forming a groove in either of the apex seal or a sealing groove for receiving the apex seal, and receiving a roller biased by a spring in the groove. CONSTITUTION:A groove 7 is formed in either of an apex seal 3 sliding on a slide surface 1 of a rotor housing or a wall surface 6 of a sealing groove 4 in a rotor 2 for receiving the apex seal 3. An elongate roller 8 is received in the groove 7, and is designed to rollingly contact the apex seal 3 and the wall surface 6 of the sealing groove 4. A spring 9 is received in the groove 7 on the lower side of the roller 8, thereby elastically floating the roller 8 and maintaining a good position for rolling at all times. With this arrangement, the radial movement of the apex seal 3 may be smoothened to thereby improve the sealability between the slide surface 1 of the rotor housing and the apex seal 3.
