PRODUCTION OF REINFORCED GLASS

PURPOSE:To produce glass large in strength by adding Al2O3 powder, Li2O powder and ZrO2 powder of a specified proportion to volcanic vitreous deposit powder and mixing the mixture, heating and melting it and thereafter subjecting it to strain removing treatment and reheating it in the specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:4-8pts.wt. Al2O3 powder, 3-6pts.wt. Li2O powder and 3-6pts. wt. ZrO2 powder are added to 100pts.wt. volcanic vitreous deposit powder and the mixture is mixed. Then after heating and melting this mixed powder, strain removing treatment is performed therefor and furthermore reheating is performed at 650-730 deg.C for 1-7 days. Thereby the volcanic vitreous deposit which is not utilized very much is effectively used, and glass large in strength is produced.
