Optical fibre arrangement for microoptical grating multiplexers and demultiplexers

The aim is to provide an optical fibre arrangement for microoptical grating multiplexers and demultiplexers, which is made from a number of optical fibres arranged closely side by side on a common substrate and which is simple and cost-effective in design and production and in which it is possible to have a continuously variable channel spacing, i.e. spacing of the individual optical fibres from one another. The invention provides for this purpose that the substrate is formed from at least two glass platelets 11, 12 enclosing the optical fibres 7 like a sandwich in the interspace, and that for the purpose of laterally bounding the optical fibres 7 there is bonded in each case on to the inner surfaces of the glass platelets 11, 12 which are directed towards the interspace and opposite one another diametrically, a film 13 whose thickness is less than the cladding diameter of the optical fibres 7. The inside edges of the films 13 can enclose the optical fibres 7 between them. The optical fibres 7 are bonded to the glass platelets 11, 12, and the glass platelets 11, 12 are bonded to the films 13. <IMAGE>
