PURPOSE:To increase a total suction amount by constituting the pump operation device wherein pumps are operated with a power generated on solar batteries and the number of pumps to be operated is controlled for enabling water suction even at low solar radiation. CONSTITUTION:An electric power generated by solar batteries 11a and 11b is converted into a.c. currents through invertors 12a and 12b, and fed to an a.c. electric motor for driving pumps P1 and P2. A pump operation control circuit 14 controls the number of pumps to be operated, according to a solar radiation signal transmitted from a solar radiation sensor 13. Therefore, even when the quantity of solar radiation is small, the pumps P1 and P2 can be operated and a suction amount by whole pumps can be increased.
