PURPOSE:To mold a press-molded article which is superior in shape precision and free from burrs in case of press-molding a softened material with a pressing apparatus consisting of an upper mold, a lower mold and a drum mold by fitting a stopper to the upper mold or the lower mold and controlling the bottom dead point and the top dead point of the upper mold or the lower mold in a pressing period. CONSTITUTION:The aimed press-molded article is made in such a pressing metallic mold that is constituted of an upper mold 6, a lower mold 5 and a drum mold 1 and a shape in a period of clamping with the stoppers 9, 9A are fitted to the upper mold 6 or the lower mold 5. A heated and softened pressing material 2 is fed through a rectangle-shaped feed port 1a of the side of the drum mold 1, and a molded article 7 is made by clamping the pressing metallic mold and pressing the softened material 2. On this occasion, when the softened material 2 is press-worked by the descent of the upper mold 6 and in case of press-molding it by descending the upper mold 6 and ascending the lower mold 5, a press-molded article which is superior in thickness precision and free from burrs can be produced by controlling the stopping positions of pressurizing for the upper mold 6 and the lower mold 5, namely a bottom dead point and a top dead point with the stoppers 9, 9A, respectively.
