The invention specifies pressure-surge protection for liquid-filled pipelines in heat networks, pressure-keeping means operated in parallel being provided for heat-generating units working in combination, with the aim of avoiding the pressure-keeping means counteracting one another and thus avoiding vibrations in the network as well as of reducing pressure surges, caused by a change in the flow velocity, with uncomplicated components working in a trouble-free and maintainance-free manner. According to the invention the pipeline network, via a distance pipeline in which a constant choke is arranged, is connected to a stepped rising pipe which is widened towards the top and the bottom narrower part of which is partly filled with water. The rising pipe leads into an overflow tank or a compression tank. The pressure keeping for the system is effected via a single pressure-keeping unit. The control according to the invention enables the pressure-keeping vessels of pressure-keeping units of the other heat generators, at a slightly fluctuating high level of filling, to be constantly filled at essentially the same delivery volume via the return pumps and emptied via the initial water pumps.
