The invention relates to a feed unit for workpieces, which are to be machined and consist of wood or wood-like material, and for attachment on a workpiece bearing table of a corresponding machining installation such as a bench saw, bench milling machine, bench planer or the like. Said feed unit has at least one driven frictional wheel which is mounted on a position-adjustable carrier arm and subjects the workpieces to pressure from above. The resulting pressing force of the frictional wheel is to be dissipated directly by the respective workpiece in order to avoid resulting additional friction of the workpiece on the bearing table. For this purpose, at least one lower counter-wheel is arranged, beneath the upper frictional wheel, on a lower carrier arm which can be adjusted to change the distance of the wheels relative to the upper carrier arm.
