The economical laying of pipes, especially plastic pipes, in industrial-water and heating installations is achieved according to the invention in that the pipes (4, 5) are not separated at the points which are provided with screw unions (6) for branching pipes (9, 9a), but are passed through the screw-union bodies (13, 35) without being split. Provided in the pipe walls are openings (15) through which the fluid can flow into the branching pipes (9, 9a) or in the reverse direction. The screw-union bodies (13, 35) can in this case be fitted in the correct position easily by displacement on the pipes (4, 5), without any time-consuming alignment work. T-angle screw unions and crossing screw unions (6, 7, 10) can be produced, always using the same screw-union bodies (35). <IMAGE>
