The invention relates to an actuating device for a vibration damper with adjustable damping force, this vibration damper having a damping valve device, which comprises two damping valve systems connected in series, which are alternatively actuated by way of a bypass duct and closable passage cross-sections. The passage cross-sections are closed off by means of rotary slide valves, the actuating device running very precisely into the individual slide valve positions. This occurs because a return spring is arranged parallel to the rotary slide valves and acts on the actuating device and the actuating device has stops for limiting the rotational movement.
