PURPOSE:To direct a suction passage straight to each working chamber and improve supercharging effect on a bypass flow by setting the direction of a spool center axial line for a flow control valve for controlling the bypass of a vane pump. CONSTITUTION:The axial center line O2 of the spool of a flow control valve 30 for the bypass control of a vane pump is positioned crossing the rotary axial line O1 of a rotor 22 on a symmetrical plane 'S' including said line O1 and orthogonally crossing a line connecting the centers of each suction port 20a. And a suction passage 17 is arranged symmetrically with the symmetrical plane 'S' and constitutes both suction ports 20a so as to make them continuous to the flow control valve 30 via a pair of straight pipes 17a. Consequently, a working fluid sucked from a fluid feed passage 18 is effectively supercharged due to the ejector effect of a bypass flow, thereby improving the efficiency of the vane pump.
