A filing system comprises a rack (11) supporting filing folders (112), the weight of the folders (12) being taken by base rails (15a, 15b). Laterally projecting hooks (21, 22) of the folders (12) engage over side rails (14a, 14b) of the rack (11) without putting any weight on the side rails.
