PURPOSE:To drastically reduce smear phenomenon by resetting a vertical signal line, then controlling a vertical switch by means of a vertical enable switch to transfer signal charges from the vertical signal line to an output line. CONSTITUTION:A pulse is supplied to the vertical enable switch Tr1 from a vertical scanning circuit V to enable a reading. A pulse is supplied to a reset switch Tr2 from a horizontal scanning circuit H to reset the vertical signal line at a fixed position. A pulse is supplied to a vertical switch Tr3 through the Tr1 from the circuit H to transfer a picture signal from a photoelectric transducer to the vertical signal line. A pulse is supplied to a horizontal switch Tr4 from the circuit H to transfer the picture signal from the vertical signal line to the output line. Accordingly, the transferring actions shifted between the neighboring two picture elements are executed simultaneously. Therefore, the signals of all the picture elements are read out without extending the operating time, and an excellent picture with drastically reduced optical false signals such as smear etc., is obtained.
