PURPOSE:To obtain a slow motion reproduction without noise and shaking by running a magnetic tape at a low speed through an intermittent driving, storing video information in a memory and outputting a video signal to a television based on the information when the maximum point of the output level of an FM envelope of the output signal of a head of the minimum point of the FM envelope indicating a noise generating position or the like has a constant phase relation with respect to a head changeover signal. CONSTITUTION:A pattern in which a capstan 14 rotates at a low speed, the magnetic tape runs slowly and the video heads 1, 2 trace the track recorded on the magnetic tape 13 is moved slowly. Herein, when the signal 43 is low level, a comparator 10 compares the output level of the video head 1 with a reference voltage 11, when the video head 1 and the recorded track have a prescribed relation, the voltage signal coincides with the voltage signal 39 to obtain the voltage signal 34. Thereby, in the slow motion reproduction, the video information to be fully reproduced in the noiseless state is stored in the memory.
