PURPOSE:To obtain a copied picture of desired magnification with the minimum picture forming number of times, by calculating the realizable combined variable magnification of the minimum number of times in accordance with out of the set-range variable power rate inputted in the form of numerals or a normal paper size from a magnification setting means and displaying the results. CONSTITUTION:A magnification calculating means which calculates the realizable combined variable power rate of the minimum number of times in accordance with out of the set-range variable power rate inputted in a normal paper size and, when, for example, enlargement of an A5-size original to an A3-size copy, namely, a copy of a variable power of two times is instructed through a size instructing switch, etc., a CPU 2 automatically sets the copying magnification to the maximum magnification, for example, 142%. When the original is placed on an original placing table and a copy key 31 is depressed thereafter, copying operations of a 142% enlarged copy is started. When the copy thus obtained is again placed on the original placing table and the copy key 31 is depressed, a desired 200% enlarged copy is obtained. |
